The Trust Of A Young Girl

young-girlNaaman the Commander of the Army of Aram was a great man but was a leper. A young Israelite girl was brought captive to the family to serve them. When she saw that Naaman was a leper, she told the master’s wife ‘If my master sees the Prophet of the Lord in Samaria, he would be cured’. Naaman went to his King and got permission and visited the King of Israel for a cure and gave him a letter from his own King.

When the King of Israel read this letter, he tore his robes and said ‘Am I God. Can I kill and bring back to life. Why does this person send someone to me to cure his leporsy’. The king had no faith in God, whereas the young girl had.

When Elisha the man of God heard this, he asked ‘Why have you torn your robes. Let him come to me and he will know that there is a Prophet in Israel’. Naaman went to him did what the prophet Elisha asked him to do and he was cured. Naaman then started to worship the God of Israel.

“He stood before him and said, now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel and today onward I will burn offerings and sacrifice only to the God of Israel” 2 Kings 5: 15
